Mongolian Beef

  • 2 tsp vegetable oil 
  • 1/2 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tbs garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 lb flank steak
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil for frying
  • 3 Green Onions chopped (optional)

Heat: Medium/Low - Medium        Cooking Time: 20 minutes        Serving Size: 4 people

How to Put It Together
  1. Heat 2 tsp of vegetable oil in a medium sauce pan over medium/low heat
  2. Add ginger, garlic soy sauce, and water
  3. Dissolve the brown sugar in the sauce
  4. Increase to medium heat and boil for 5 minutes until sauce reduces
  5. Remove sauce from heat and set aside
  1. Slice flank steak against the grain into 1/4 inch thick slices
  2. Lightly coat the steak pieces with cornstarch 
  3. Bring the cup of vegetable oil over medium heat
  4. Add the beef to the oil and fry until brown
  5. Once cooked, spoon out beef with a spider or slotted spoon and place them onto a paper towel.
  6. Compine the beef and sauce, garnish with green onions, and serve
  • Serve over white or brown rice along with your favorite steamed vegetables.
