Friend Renowned Baked Ziti

Baked Ziti   I would definitely have to say that my baked ziti is one of my most requested dishes so I thought it was a no brainer to start off my new blog with it. This dish is super easy to make and can be a great side with anything from chicken to meatballs.


Ingredients:
  • 1lb ziti pasta
  • 2 (32oz) cans of tomato sauce (I personally prefer Hunts Traditional)
  • 1lb shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup fresh parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • pinch of fresh parsley


Oven: 400° F         Baking Time: 30 Minutes         Serving Size: 6 people


How to put it all together:
  1. Preheat your oven to 400° F
  2. Cook your pasta according to the directions on the box and drain
  3. In a large pot put in the tomato sauce, ricotta cheese and red pepper flakes
  4. Toss the pasta and half of the mozzarella cheese with the tomato sauce mixture
  5. Spray the baking dish with cooking spray
  6. Pour in the pasta and tomato sauce mixture in the baking dish and top it with the parmesan cheese and the rest of the mozzarella cheese 
  7. Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes
  8. Sprinkle parsley on top before serving


   If you need help adding healthy greens into your diet you can also add some cooked spinach in with the pasta and tomato sauce mixture before baking. Another way to mix up this dish is to make it with a meat sauce. This is really easy, all you need to do is add 1lb of cooked and drained ground beef to the tomato sauce mixture before baking.
